Why buy a sound system?
Attracting your first pair of swifts can be quite difficult. Swifts are sociable birds and are attracted to nesting sites where colonies are already in existence.
To help attract Swifts to your nesting box, we recommend playing Swift calls near the nest site.
The call we supply with our sound system is a specific segment of their song that has proven to be very effective at drawing birds to the box. This call was isolated by a Swift expert during the Covid lock-down by surveying Swift calls up and down the UK.
Our sound system is a complete 'plug and play' system.
What does this include?
- an amplifier
- waterproof speaker
- a pre-recorded swift call on a USB stick (we can also supply House Martin calls or Swallow calls)
- power cable with 2 pin adapter
- 10m of speaker cable
Call System Installation Instructions
- Attach the speaker to your swift box.
- The speaker can be either inside or outside the box but if outside, although waterproof, place underneath the box for some protection from the elements.
- Pass wire back to amplifier (the cable is small enough to go through a PVC window seal when closed).
- Attach speaker cables into the amplifier: One wire in red portal one in neighbouring black portal (it doesn’t matter which wire but the portals must be next to each other).
- Plug the amplifier into the mains using two pin adapter (a timer can be added at this point).
- Put USB stick in amplifier and turn on.
