Origins of our Bat Backs

Watching Swift tenants of some boxes made us aware that some rather delightful sub-letting was going on.  

Turns out our Swift holiday homes were actually providing all-year accommodation. Bats were roosting in the tiny gaps between the boxes and the walls!  That was all the encouragement we needed to seek out some expert advice from an environmental consultant and the local bat conservation group to find out exactly what bats need in the way of a roost.  

It turns out they need very little: a small space and something to hang on to.The Bat Back was born!

Placement

This can be used instead of the standard ‘Easy-Hang’ mounting plate and can be retro fitted to our existing range.  

It still works in exactly the same way.  

Screw the bat back plate to the wall, hang the box on it and then screw the box to the back plate through the pre-drilled holes which engage perfectly with the baffles on the plate.

The Bat Back was launched at Birdfair 2019 where it proved to be an almost universally popular choice.
