Our house martin cups are 3D printed in our workshop from a mixture of cornstarch and sawdust, making them just about as eco-friendly as you can get. Our robust cups are designed to brave all weather conditions, ensuring a secure and cozy home for house martins, and occasionally, swallows. They promise to stand the test of time, offering a permanent nesting solution. Should you want to remove and dispose of one of our cups, they are fully biodegradable in the right conditions.Hanging a House Martin cup is a breeze. The pre-shaped screw holes ensure a hassle-free fixing of the mounting bracket to any surface. The cup fits snugly onto the bracket, providing a stable and inviting nesting spot. The lattice like structure that is built within the cups’ walls acts as a trap for air and gives the cup an element of insulation - protecting the birds from both excessive heat and cold.
All of our boxes are made by hand to order. We aim to ship all boxes in 5 to 7 days of order placement.
However, at busy times this can be up to 3 weeks due to the nature of hand finishing each product.
The exceptions to this are Apex boxes and Bespoke boxes which can take up to 4 weeks to make.
We currently only ship to addresses within the UK.
Our boxes are made from 18mm ply. Our ply is sourced from responsible plantations within Europe that plant 3 trees for each 1 that is harvested.
The ply has excellent water resistance, the surface is breathable and water vapour can move freely. This is one of the reasons why our ply will not delaminate, unlike others available. You do not need to treat the ply prior to mounting the box.
The paint used on roofs of boxes (if applicable) is a water based, heat reflective, roofing paint.
All screws used are stainless steel. We design the boxes to minimise our reliance on screws.
Detailed instructions will come with your box.
There is no need to treat or paint the boxes prior to putting them up. If you want to paint the box, we suggest using a water-based, non-toxic paint. Please do not paint over the dark circles on swift boxes - these are visual clues to swifts that there is a nesting cavity.
We suggest inspecting the box once a year when you are very confident there are no nesting birds using it.
To clean the box, only if needed:
