Our solar powered, wireless bird-box camera makes it easy for you to monitor your nest box inhabitants by being simple to install and maintain.
How does it work? We have 3D printed a housing for the camera that can be retro-fitted externally onto any of our nest boxes.
To fit the camera to a new box: If you want to buy a box with the camera 'pre-fitted', then buy both the camera and the box and add a comment saying 'please mount the camera' when prompted to do so during checkout.
To retro-fit the camera to an existing box: This requires some light DIY to drill a hole into the side of your nest box and affix the housing to the side of the box using 6 screws. The solar panel can be attached to any surface using the supplied mounting bracket which requires 4 screws.
The compact camera is full colour, 1080P resolution with high resolution infrared. This means you get clear views of the nest occupants regardless of the amount of light entering the box. Nesting birds will not be disturbed by infrared as we block all visible light emission.
The camera is full of features, including 2 way audio and motion detection, so not only will you be notified when you have nesting pairs, but you can also hear them!
The camera has a 100º Field of view so in almost all cases, you can view the entire interior of the nest box with clarity.
Connecting to the camera is very straightforward. Download the Netvue App for either Android or Apple smart phones and connect via 2.4GHz WIFI - no cables required. The camera also supports MicroSD Cards of 16-128GB (Not Included).
The camera is powered by a small solar panel (17cm x 5cm x 12cm) with an integrated 5000 mAh solar-recharging Li-ion battery, supplied with a 280cm-long USB-C cable to connect to the camera. In our testing, this successfully powered our cameras throughout the winter, so there's no need for additional batteries. Both the camera and solar panel are weather and dust proof to IP 65, and function in a temperature range of-10°C to 50°C, so they are ideal for the British climate. And to add peace of mind they come with a 2-year warranty.
